BIOS tells me it's there, and Windows hardware manager tells me it's there, but it's not showing up as usable hard drive space. What am I missing?

Just taking a stab, but has it been partitioned and/or formatted?

That's just it...I can't find any option that would allow me to do that. I know that it's a PEBKAC issue.

Right-click (My) Computer, click Manage. Click Disk Management You should see your new drive in the list and should be able to create a partition from the right-click menu for it (looks like it's called New Simple Volume in Windows 7)

XP!
But I finally figured it out by googling the correct keywords. In my defense, it wasn't exactly obvious.
